DriveMapPRO
for Windows 2000/XP

Introduction

Mapping network drives can be a real pain when you're adminstering lots of boxes. You might leave your drives mapped to save time, but this slows down your PC as it polls all the connections to see if they're alive. You might use batch scripts to map groups of drives but that's pretty inflexible.

This is where DriveMapPRO comes into it's own!

Simply add the details of the drives you'd like to map to, and then use DriveMapPRO to manage them.

Key Features

DriveMapPRO has been written to be as useful as possible.. some of the features include:

   - Ability to map/unmap drives on the fly
   - Quick navigation to mapped drives
   - Instant view of which drives are mapped
   - User definable application launch (e.g. fire up VNC)
   - Themes/skins can be applied to customise the application to your desktop style

Screen Shots

Here are some screen shots which highlight some of DriveMapPRO's best features!

Main display using the Vinyl theme...

There are a number of themes available with more on the way.
Creating your own is also very easy!
Running VNC against the selected server...

You can configure whatever application you'd like to execute on a per-server basis. For example, to remote control the server you could use VNC, e.g. "c:\vncviewer.exe" $IP -shared   ($IP will be replaced by the IP address of the server you've selected).

Pinging the selected server...

Useful when you've asked the server to reboot and want to see when it's come back up. Okay it's the same as doing ping -t from the command prompt, but this makes it a simple point and click operation.

Configuring DriveMapPRO...

It's been designed to be as easy as possible to add your network drives from your current configuration into DriveMapPRO. A list of old mappings, together with current mapping is available for you to select from. Adding groups helps you categorise each set of mappings.

There is support via email for registered users. There are also user forums for you to discuss hints/tips, suggest new features and report problems.

FAQ

1) Are there any good shortcuts?

- You can click the right mouse button anywhere on the main window to make it disappear
- Double click when the drive is unmapped to map it
- Double click when the drive is mapped to explore it
2) Are there any command line arguments?

Not at the moment, but there will be! ;)
3) When I try to map a drive it says "Unrecognised Error", what does it mean?

There's an error code being returned by Windows that DriveMapPRO doesn't recognise. Try mapping the drive using Windows Explorer to find out the root cause of the problem
4) Are there more themes/skins available?

There certainly will be. In the mean time, if you design your own then feel free to send them in & they may get featured on this site!
5) In Windows Explorer the mappings get the wrong names

As far as I can tell, this is a Windows problem. It seems to get mixed up and uses and old alias instead of the one you've just mapped. It's a bit confusing, so the best thing to do is use DriveMapPRO and right-click | Explore... on the servers you have mapped.
6) Some options are disabled and I can't get it to run on windows startup

DriveMapPRO is still being developed. However if you want the application to start at the same time as windows, simply put a shortcut to the .exe in your Startup folder.
